SUZO-HAPP Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Compliance Statement

This document provides information on Happ’s plans with regard to product compliance with the European Union's directive 2002/95/EC, Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).

The RoHS directive becomes valid on 1-July 2006 in the member states of the European Union.
Its aim is to reduce a total of six substances from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE), thereby contributing to the protection of human health and the environment.

Although RoHS is a European Union (EU) Directive, manufacturers of EEE outside Europe must also abide by this legislation if the equipment they produce is ultimately imported into a EU member state.

The RoHS directive restricts the use of certain hazardous substances commonly used in the manufacturing of electronic equipment  and requires producers of electronic equipment to reduce the concentration of these hazardous materials, by July 1, 2006, to the following acceptable levels by weight:
  • Lead (Pb) < 0.1%
  • Mercury (Hg) < 0.1%
  • Cadmium (Cd) < 0.01%
  • Hexavalent Chromium (CrVI) < 0.1%
  • Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB) < 0.1%
  • Polybrominated Diphenyl Esters (PBDE) < 0.1%
At SUZO-HAPP we recognize our responsibility as a supplier of electromechanical assemblies and components used within electrical and  electronic based systems and products that will be targeted for RoHS compliance.  We appreciate your business and are fully committed  to offering RoHS compliance on the majority of our products in advance of the directive deadline.  We have started a comprehensive  evaluation and analysis program both internally and with our suppliers to establish and publish RoHS compliant statements for our  component products.  We intend to achieve this by a combination of supplier certification and engineering design; where necessary  we will review our designs to incorporate compliant materials and manufacturing processes in order to achieve RoHS compliance.

Our goal is to become RoHS compliant by the end of the first quarter 2006.  We recognize that during this process our customers may have  specific questions regarding RoHS certification on individual Happ components and products.  We will be happy to process all such requests  and provide individual product RoHS information as quickly as possible.  Please contact your Salesperson with any such requests or email rohs@happcontrols.com
